Wise Counsel

There are moments in life when the situation we are facing is so charged, so loaded, that even our most intelligent and capable self cannot access what is actually needed. People get triggered. Old unfinished business rises up. And in that state, the higher capacity that every one of us carries — wisdom — becomes unavailable.

Wisdom is not popular. It is not always the easiest realm — but it is the most remarkable realm for producing a rare kind of unexpected positive results.

It is the higher recognition of what would truly be best — for all considered, not just for the most vocal, the most reactive, or the most strategic. And it is precisely in the moments when everything feels most urgent and most personal that wisdom is hardest to access and most needed.

Wise Counsel is often what people need but are frequently challenged to access and utilize. It is the practice of calling that higher capacity in — when you cannot access it yourself, when those around you are too close to the situation, or when strategy alone will not get you where you need to go.

In this short video Kim uses a very public family as a vivid example of exactly where and why Wise Counsel is called for — and what it could change.

Calling Upon Wise Counsel is not a sign of weakness, but that of strength — and what it could bring to whatever situation one is facing that’s calling for something more than reaction, conflict, or reflex.
